Family Life, Music Life, Business Life --- A Look Inside Christou DaKeeng
by Lisa Luv
Christou is a man of few words publicly and VERY little time to socialize, so he has had to create a team of dedicated people working around him to maintain the positive energy flow. I have taken all of this into consideration and have still pressed onto him the importance of engaging his audience, not only with his voice, but with his words as well. Being his wife, I find it my genuine duty to drive him forward, just he has done in my career. I finally sat him down and made sure that he brings to light the MACHINE that is Christou DaKeeng!..... He told me to send the interview questions to his e-mail (lol), but I interviewed him in the car on our way to his video shoot to make it easier on both of us. Check out what he has to say here in this exclusive interview where he became an Open Book!
"Moving forward in life is always a feeling process for me"
I see you have a lot going on at all times, so how do you maintain your career along with family life?
I'm usually put in positions where I have to take every day as it comes. Remaining independent is not an easy thing to do. I have dealt with a long time of struggling to work, perform, and maintain a happy life for my family. There were sacrifices that I've made that most wouldn't have even considered to make. My fortune of a great voice isn't enough alone to keep everything financially and socially maintained. I feel I take more losses than wins, but I make the most of the big wins that I am blessed to receive. I also persevere beyond what I feel or think as well. Moving forward in life is always a feeling process for me. There's days that I would have low productivity, but I'd have to remind myself that even though the level of it may have been low, there was productivity. Most will lie and make it appear that they have ALL their ducks in order, but it's for the gram! [Laughs] To be real though, my biggest struggle that I deal with is trying to maintain a healthy relationship with my daughter who doesn't live with us. It's hard to know that you can't daily look into the eyes of one of your beautiful creations. She lives several miles away so that makes it even more of a mountain to climb. For those reasons I push every day to make sure that my family stays close to me.
You definitely laid out a lot there. You show a sense of needing to have music and family balanced. Where is the balance found?
Honestly, I am still finding it. I think it's one of those acts that remains lifelong...well at least in this reality. There are three things that constantly reminds me to refocus and realign myself. The first is my family, of course. It just takes looking into their faces and engaging into their emotions and needs. Second, comes meditating on the appreciation of life. Life is a giving energy and we must learn to spiritually give back, so that's why I have to meditate and get involved in focused prayers. The third balancing factor is positive friendships. Negativity brings negativity and I don't have time for it. Why give energy away? Once the universe purged my non-supportive environment, it placed in my life people bent on building together positively and progressively. My life took a real turn around then. It may sound cliche, but you just have to "let go and let God", as my aunt Phyllis says to me frequently.
You're also a business man as CEO of the entertainment & branding company that you are an artist on. What's the future of Omni Empire and Christou DaKeeng, as far as business and music?
Well you, my wife, and I have created a company from the ground up that is continuously growing. I've taken learning from my mistakes, as well as, long days & nights of studying the business of entertainment, to build a company that transforms artists and other companies alike. Omni is a growing entity that constantly looks to network with businesses and creators of the arts and build a strong foundation for all to thrive. I have a lot of knowledge that I can give so I invite anyone to put us to the test.
With that being said..
I will finally be releasing my first album this year and I'm uber excited about it. We have carefully built a strong campaign around it so I'm super excited about it. I think this is a gateway to magnificent things to come. I mean the whole way through, obstacles occurred during the making of this project. It's cool though, all of that resistance means I'll shoot of out the rubber band when it's release time. Next Chapter. The best yet. You won't be allowed to sleep on it if you tried.
This conclude today's interview. Engage the readers. Are there any last words you wish to get out to people?
I've been told in conversation before "you may not be ever be rich or famous, but you continue to remain humble"... that's not an option for me. Reality is created and I refuse to let others around me create my reality, based on their own ideas of my life and how they think it should go. I said that to encourage others not to do the same. Don't let someone define you and your life's path. No situation is perfect no matter how much more or less one may have. I could be the biggest millionaire in the world and keep this understanding. Be the best you and you can achieve unimaginable things. Stay positive and grow. Peace and Love!
